An evergreen shrub from 4-10' tall with a loose, open habit and twisted main branches. Usually on the lower end of the height scale outside its native range of eastern US. Large thick dark green leaves 4-8" long, add an attractive texture. Flowers are rose, pink to white spotted green or orange in June--later than most other rhododendrons. Grows wild along stream banks.
