Comments: Tamarack is a deciduous conifer that grows 40-80 ft. tall and 15-30 ft. wide. The green needles turn a
showy yellow in autumn before falling to the ground as winter approaches. It is a tree of very cold climates, growing to
the tree line across North America. It has an open pyramidal shape and horizontal branching. This tree performs best
when grown in moist, acidic, well-drained soils in full sun. Tolerates some light shade but is intolerant of full shade,
dry soils and most city pollutants. Best performance is in temperature conditions that mirror its native habitat,
namely, cool summers and cold winters. It performs poorly in high heat and humidity.
