Acer palmatum 'Grandma Ghost'

Acer palmatum 'Grandma Ghost' - Grandma Ghost Japanese maple
.
Common name: Grandma Ghost Japanese maple
Family: Aceraceae (maple family)
Distribution: Species native to e. Asia
Hardiness: USDA Zone 5
Life form: Deciduous tree
Comments: One of several open pollinated seedlings originating at Buchholz and Buchholz Nursery, Gaston, OR, distinguished for their pronounced dark leaf veins. In Grandma Ghost these dark veins are juxtaposed against gray-green to rose-blush leaf tissue. Leaves eventually deepen to a solid pink in summer. Members of the "ghost" series grow more slowly than the species typically reaching less than 10' tall.
