Fagus sylvatica (Variegata Group) 'Sartini'

Fagus sylvatica (Variegata Group) 'Sartini' - Sartini European beech
.
Common name: Sartini European beech
Family: Fagaceae (beech family)
Synonym: Fagus sylvatica 'Bicolor Sartini'
Distribution: Species native to Europe
Hardiness: USDA Zone 4
Life form: Deciduous tree
Comments: This rare, variegated form originated in Italy and was introduced into cultivation around 1995. Sartini is a branch sport mutation off the commonly planted rose pink beech (F. sylvatica 'Roseo-marginata') but lacks the purple color. Leaf margins are green-gold with deeper green in the interior of the leaf. This form will grow slowly to reach a small to medium sized tree to 30' tall and wide. A must for those crazy about variegated plants.
