Comments:
This maple is sometimes considered its own species, Acer miaotaiense, as opposed to a subspecies of
Acer miyabei
. It is a rare endemic to China, typically found in mixed forests as a medium-sized tree growing up to 60 ft. tall. The leaves are three-lobed and the petiole (i.e., leafstalk) exudes a white latex when broken. Yellow-green flowers appear in spring at the same time as the leaves.
