Comments: An partly evergreen eastern US native shrub that is noted for its foliage fragrance and interesting fruits. It ranges in size from 6-8' tall and wide. This species is dioecious so fruits are produced on female plants only, with a male plant nearby for pollination. The small bluish fruits, on female plants, are clustered on the branches and have a white waxy coating that was used to make traditional bayberry candles. It makes a good screen or hedge plant.
