Comments: This slender, vigorous, native climbing vine winds counterclockwise, 15-20' high and is not invasive in the garden as Asian species tend to be. Shiny green pinnate leaves have 11-15 leaflets. Faintly scented purple-lilac flowers with center yellow blotch that occur in May are exceptionally beautiful. Fall color can be yellowish. Needs a substantial structure such as arbor, pergola or trellis to grow on.
