.
Common name: pendent bald-cypress
Family: Cupressaceae (cypress family)
Distribution: Species native to s.-c. and s.e. United States
Hardiness: USDA Zone 5
Life form: Deciduous tree
Comments: A lofty, deciduous conifer with a slender, conical growth habit, 50' tall or more at maturity. Very attractive, reddish brown bark and soft sage-green foliage. Autumn color is russet or soft brown. This particular selection has pendulous branch tips giving the tree an extra bit of grace (as if it needed it!). Good as an accent in large areas. "Cypress knees" develop when planted in wet sites.
