Habitat: Blackwater rivers, lake margins, swamps, Carolina Bay lakes, pocosins, and wet, poorly drained, pine flatwoods; 0--100 m

Life form: Deciduous tree
Comments: This deciduous conifer, with a slow to medium growth rate, can reach 80' tall and 20' wide. Shape is narrowly conical or columnar with spreading branches and erect branchlets. The unusual looking leaves are bright green in summer, turning orange-brown in fall. Cones are short-stalked. Does not develop knees such as the ones found on common bald-cypress. Use as a specimen in open areas.
