Comments: The foliage is striking on this slow growing; relatively dwarf oak native to the eastern United States. The bark becomes divided into small, squarish blocks. Mature size is about 20-40' tall with a spreading crown. Fall color is most often brown but occasionally, a rich red. Nuts are a 3/4" acorn, half of which is enclosed in the cap. Plant in full sun and well-drained soil.
