An upright, narrow-growing, semi-dwarf evergreen, 12-15' with age. Needles are curved distinctly upward bearing showy white stomatal bands and persist for 3 years; their attractive bluish green color creates a fine display in the winter. Young stems are crowded, greenish brown and smooth while older wood takes on a gray to black, exfoliating nature. Cones are 2-4" long and persist for several years.
