A broadleaf evergreen growing to 9' tall and 6' wide, though usually smaller in Ohio. New leaves emerge tinted bronze, changing to lustrous dark green. The slightly fragrant flowers are pink. They occur in March-April and are individually urn-shaped, in 3-6" long panicles. Forms a neat compact shrub and is often used as a specimen or companion plant.
