Picea orientalis 'Instar'

Picea orientalis 'Instar' - Instar oriental spruce
Image: Ecker, Michael E. - The Dawes Arboretum
.
Common name: Instar oriental spruce
Family: Pinaceae (pine family)
Distribution: Species native to Caucasus Mountains (Georgia) and Turkey
Hardiness: USDA Zone 4
Life form: Evergreen tree
Comments: A narrow, arching and weeping selection of oriental spruce. Its tiny evergreen needles are a very dark shiny green. Growth rate is approximately 4" per year. Would make a nice specimen or addition to a conifer garden. Staked upright it would look excellent in a tight spot.
