A broadly conical, sometimes spreading conifer that grows to around 15' tall and wide. Originated as a chance seedling in Sweden before 1900 and is now valued in the trade for its remarkable cones. Cones emerge bright red in the spring and later become 5-7" long and light brown. Overall habit of this plant is stiff and coarse. An excellent accent plant.
