Image: Payton, Gregory
.
Common name: Troemner spruce
Family: Pinaceae (pine family)
Distribution: hybrid: selection of Picea omorika × P. pungens 'Koster'

Life form: Evergreen tree
Comments: This hybrid evergreen conifer will probably reach 30-50' tall and half as wide. It has nicely pendulous branchlets with bluish needles not as stiff as Colorado blue spruce. Vigorous and strong growing with a beautiful upright, narrowly conical habit, both as a young plant and as a mature specimen. This hybrid is showing signs of resistance to Rhizosphaera needle cast disease which is decimating Colorado spruce in our area.
