Comments: A broadleaf evergreen shrub slightly more compact and slower growing than the species with cream and bronze colored leaves. Form is upright to rounded, growing to 15'. Fragrant white flowers open in May. Simple leaves are alternate, and bear sharp spines along the margins. Tiny fruits ripen blue in late summer or early autumn. Plant in a protected site away from winter sun and wind in rich, moist, slightly acid soil.
