Comments:
An upright-spreading, deciduous shrub growing 6-10' tall and wide. It has gray-green leaves with bluish green undersides. The wooly flowers (catkins) are produced in early spring and are black with red anthers. They are often used in flower arrangements. Flower production is maximized by rejuvenating it every several years. Plant in full sun in moist soil.
