Comments: A Father Fiala selection. This medium-sized, deciduous tree is vigorous in growth to 20' tall and wide. It has dark red flower buds opening to 1 1/2" magenta flowers that fade pink in late April to early May. Foliage is purple at first, becoming purple-green in summer. Fruit is purple with a bluish cast. Older bark resembles that of a cherry tree.
