Comments: A large deciduous shrub to small tree, usually multi-stemmed or branched low to the ground, 15-20' tall and wide. Leaves are dark green, somewhat wider toward the tips than at the base. Fall color is yellow at best. Flowers open before the leaves unfold in March/April, dark pink in bud, but opening white, flushed with pink. Valued as a precocious bloomer. Plant in spring only, in full sun, rich, moist, well-drained soil.
