Image: Ecker, Michael E. - The Dawes Arboretum
.
Common name: Golden Girl Brooklyn magnolia
Family: Magnoliaceae subfam. Magnolioideae (magnolia family)
Distribution: hybrid: Kehr hybrid
Hardiness: USDA Zone 5
Life form: Deciduous tree
Comments: A fast-growing deciduous tree probably growing about 18-20' tall and nearly as wide. The bright yellow flowers are accented by a hint of purple at the base of the tepals. Blooming in May helps it to miss late frost damage. A newer, brighter colored cultivar of this interesting hybrid. Site in full sun to light shade in moist, well-drained soil in spring only. A wonderful specimen or small flowering shade tree.
