Comments:
A vigorous, small, deciduous tree, usually multi-stemmed or low-branched to around 20' tall by 15' wide. Leaves are lustrous deep green, 4-7" long. Pale yellow, fragrant, 3" flowers open in April. Fruit is a follicle, held upright and composed of several orange to red seeds that ripen in September or October. Plant only in the spring in full sun to part shade in moist, well-drained soil.
