Comments: This large, deciduous, shrub or small tree can grow to 12' tall and wide. Dark green oval-shaped leaves. Flowers are long-pedaled, deep reddish purple wedges fading to white. It blooms in late April, sometimes into June. Does best in soil that is acid and evenly moist in light shade. Makes a nice accent plant or small specimen. Reported as hardy to -20°F.
