Comments: A broadly conical tree to 60' tall by 40' wide. Selected for its consistent red-purple fall color. Leaves are star-shaped, lustrous, bright green. Flowers are inconspicuous opening in April/May. Fruit is aggregate of capsules, with prickles so sharp, rabbits will not walk over them even to get to their favorite edibles.
