Comments: A narrow upright form of our native sweetgum introduced by noted Kentucky plantsman, Michael Hayman. This deciduous tree is described as reaching 50' tall with a spread of only 10'. Leaves are star-shaped, 5-7 lobed, glossy medium green in summer. Fall color is potentially a rich burgundy red. Flowers are monoecious, stalked, yellow-green and inconspicuous. Fruits ripen in the fall as a globose aggregate of seed (syncarp) enclosed in a prickly husk.
