Comments: A selection introduced from Arkansas and valued for its fine yellow to orange-red fall color. Growth habit is considered more dense and compact than the species to around 4' tall and wide. Leaves are alternate, simple, lustrous dark green. Leaves more persistent in warmer climates where this plant may function as a semi-evergreen. Flowers arrive in June and are held in 3-6" long, upright panicles. Fruits mature as dark brown capsules that persist throughout winter.
