Comments: A broadleaf evergreen tree to 15-20' tall by 10-12' wide. Leaves are dark green, 1-3" long, spiny tipped along the margins. Tiny, white flowers open in May in the leaf axils and are followed by clusters of red berries that ripen in late summer and persist into winter. Introduced in 1949. Requires a male pollinator for fruiting.
