Comments: A broadleaf evergreen shrub reaching only 5' tall by 3' wide. Schwoebel's is one of many open pollinated seedlings of I. crenata 'Convexa' and in addition to its low stature, this plant is hardier than the species. Leaves alternate, smaller than normal, glossy light green year around. Flowers in dull white clusters open in May. Fruit is a black berry which ripens in late summer.
