Comments: This vase-shaped, deciduous shrub will grow to only 2-3' tall by 4-5' wide. Summer foliage is medium green. Flowers open in May as tiny, white clusters and are soon replaced by berrylike drupes that exhibit a vivid red color upon ripening in late summer and early fall. Fruits persist until early winter at which time, they become a favorite snack for birds. Plant in fall or spring in full sun to part shade in rich, moist, slightly acid soil. Tolerates wet sites. Male pollinator required to ensure fruiting.
