Comments: A medium to large-growing, deciduous shrub, reaching 8-10' tall and wide in ten years. Selected and named by Hillier & Sons Nursery around 1945. Strap-shaped petals open reddish bronze in late winter. Leaves are alternate, simple, glossy dark green in summer taking on scarlet fall color. An excellent specimen for the winter landscape.
