Comments: A medium to large-growing, deciduous shrub, reaching 8-10' tall and wide in 10 years. Selected and named by Hillier & Sons Nursery around 1980 and noted for being the earliest of its type to bloom (mid-December). Strap-shaped petals open bright, clear yellow, with contrasting scarlet colored sepals. Leaves are alternate, simple, glossy dark green in summer taking on yellow fall color. An excellent specimen for the winter landscape.
