Comments: Originating from Europe, about 1980, as a seedling selection. This deciduous plant forms a rounded, deciduous shrub to 9' tall and wide. Leaves are simple and alternate, 3" long and wide, medium green in summer with no appreciable fall color. Flowers open in mid-winter (late January) sporting crimped, yellow petals. The sepals, which form the base of the flower, appear maroon. Noted for its extensive blooming time which spans several weeks.
