Gymnocladus dioicus 'J. C. McDaniel' Prairie Titan™

Gymnocladus dioicus 'J. C. McDaniel' Prairie Titan™ - Prairie Titan™ Kentucky coffee-tree
.
Common name: Prairie Titan™ Kentucky coffee-tree
Family: Fabaceae (pea family)
Distribution: Species native to c. and e.-c. North America
Hardiness: USDA Zone 4
Life form: Deciduous tree
Comments: A rather slow-growing, deciduous tree attaining 60' tall by 20-30' wide. This is a beautiful male form with excellent blue-green leaves that are doubly pinnately compound, 2-3' long. Stems are very stout and well-spaced, resulting in a coarse winter texture. Bark is dark brown with scale-like ridges. Found by the late, great, plantsman, J.C. McDaniel, on the campus of University of Illinois. A good street tree choice as it tolerates poor soil and is pH adaptable.
