Comments: A large native, deciduous tree growing 50-70' tall and wide. It grows in rich bottomland that periodically floods. Leaflets are typically smaller and bark is smoother than our native honey locust, with large thorns on trunk and branches. Summer foliage is green with yellow fall color. Flowers are greenish white and are ornamentally insignificant. The beanlike seed pods are only 1-2" long, thin and flat. Site in full sun to light shade in moist soil.
