.
Common name: ginkgo [Spring Grove sport selection]
Family: Ginkgoaceae (ginkgo family)
Distribution: Species native to e. China
Hardiness: USDA Zone 4
Life form: Deciduous tree
Comments: A dwarf mutation found in Spring Grove Cemetery and Arboretum on one of their large ginkgo trees and reproduced by grafting. This deciduous conifer has beautiful flat, fan-shaped leaves with parallel venation. Its growth is slow and its ultimate size is unknown. Our estimate is about 10' tall and wide. Fall color is a clear, brilliant yellow. Being a mutation, it will not produce the smelly fruit. Watch for reversions which would be much faster in growth.
