Comments: A deciduous conifer distinctive for its very narrow, columnar form. It was discovered as a chance seedling in 1930 and is said to grow up to 50' tall. Reportedly a female tree which produces very smelly, fleshy cones in presence of male tree. It has large, flat, broad leaves that have unusual parallel venation. Striking yellow fall color. Older bark develops gray-brown ridges with dark furrows between. Use as a specimen or accent tree.
