Ginkgo biloba 'Robbie's Twist'

.
.
Common name: Robbie's Twist ginkgo
Family: Ginkgoaceae (ginkgo family)
Distribution: Species native to e. China
Hardiness: USDA Zone 4
Life form: Deciduous tree
Comments: An unusual tree in that it is a deciduous, broadleaf conifer. This selection has dense foliage with a pronounced upright habit and irregularly twisted branches. The medium green, broad leaves have unusual parallel venation. Certainly a rare selection that no doubt our collector friends will lust after. Plants reportedly can reach 8' tall and 4' wide in 10 years. Ginkgo has striking yellow fall color. The fleshy (and smelly!) cones have not been reported on this cultivar to date.
