Fagus sylvatica (Variegata Group) 'Aurea Pendula' - golden weeping European beech
Image: Payton, Gregory - The Dawes Arboretum
.
Common name: golden weeping European beech
Family: Fagaceae (beech family)
Distribution: Species native to Europe
Hardiness: USDA Zone 4
Life form: Deciduous tree
Comments: There is no finer specimen tree than a well-grown European beech. Beautiful yellow leaves cover this handsome and unusual weeping beech. The best yellow color is developed in part shade and they turn greener as season progresses. Slower growing than the species, it can eventually form a large mounded habit.
