Comments: An uncommon but interesting native, deciduous shrub. May grow 4-6' tall and equally wide. Tends to sucker and will create a thicket-like effect. Flowers are white and slightly fragrant. Fall color is frequently deep red. Use as a flowering hedge or accent. Plant in moist, well-drained, acid soil; full to part shade is ideal. Will not tolerate drought and windy sites.
