This azalea relative has bell-shaped flowers that hang from beneath the stems during May. They are redder toward tip than normal with above corolla creamy-yellow and lightly veined red. Exceptional red to orange fall color! Great in the evergreen border. Once established it's drought tolerant and deer browse resistant.
