Comments: A large shrub to 10' tall by 8' wide. Stems are typically brown with older wood peeling off in thin strips. Flowers are impressive, opening to a rosy purple, 3-6" long, in upright clusters (June). Fall color is rarely showy, usually a muddy yellow. Use in a shrub border. Plant in full sun, well-drained soil.
