A small, deciduous tree 20' tall and wide after 30 years; often low-branched, appearing shrubby in habit. Selected for its more deeply colored fruit and attractive reddish scarlet fall color. Flowers open after the leaves unfold (May) in yellow-white, fragrant clusters. Winged fruits change from green to reddish green to brilliant scarlet in autumn.
