Common name: golden fullmoon maple, golden Shirasawa maple
Family: Aceraceae (maple family)
Synonym: Acer japonicum 'Aureum'
Distribution: Species native to Japan
Hardiness: USDA Zone 5
Life form: Deciduous tree
Comments: A rounded, shrubby deciduous tree ultimately reaching 10-15' high and wide, but doing so slowly. A wonderful addition to the garden with pale golden yellow foliage in spring. It can take full sun without scorching. In a good year fall color can be orange and gold but sometimes can be somewhat muted. Makes a nice specimen or accent plant. Adaptable to a wide range of cultural conditions.
