Family: Aceraceae (maple family)
Distribution: Species native to e. North America
Hardiness: USDA Zone 4
Life form: Deciduous tree
Plant Patent Info.: PP2,339; 7 January, 1964
Comments: A cultivar originating from Princeton Nurseries in New Jersey that has been in the trade since 1964. Habit is much like that of the species, forming a broadly conical, deciduous tree to 70' tall and 45' wide. Leaves are opposite and slightly cupped. The thickened and leathery texture of the leaves gives this selection better heat and leaf scorch resistance. Fall color ranges from orange-scarlet to yellow.
