Species native to e. Asia
Hardiness:
USDA Zone 5

Comments:
An outstanding, red-foliaged selection of Japanese maple named and released by the late, great plantsman, John Vertrees in 1965. This deciduous cultivar combines beautiful, deeply cut foliage with a dense, compact habit. Leaves unfold crimson-red, very lacy in texture. In the fall, leaves darken to a deep reddish purple. A premier landscape plant for small yards growing to only 10' tall and slightly wider.
