Comments:
A rarely offered species of maple that in cultivation grows as a medium deciduous tree to about 15' tall and usually less in width. Its young branches are reddish brown while mature branches and trunk are dark brown. Medium green summer leaves are thin and papery and have 5 lobes with the central lobe longer than others. It produces inconspicuous yellow-white flowers in spring followed by the typical maple samara fruit. Develops yellow fall color and is a nice small tree for a protected spot in the garden.
