Taxon

Acer circinatum 'Pacific Fire'

.
.
Common name: Pacific Fire vine maple
Family: Aceraceae (maple family)
Distribution: Species native to n.w. North America
Hardiness: USDA Zone 6
Life form: Deciduous tree
Comments: A selection of native northwestern maple that's usually multi-branched but can be trained to a single trunk. Will probably grow to about 8-10' tall and wide. The bright yellow-green 5-7 lobed leaves become brilliant yellow in fall with orange highlights. This contrasts with its red stems that become outstanding in winter. It could be used in the rock garden, shrub border, as a specimen or accent plant. Best fall color is where sited to get early morning light but shade during remainder of the day.
