Comments: A small, deciduous maple with leaves that are long, serrate and dark green. Leaves do not look like typical maple leaves but more like those of hornbeam (Carpinus sp.), giving the tree its common name. It will grow 15-20' tall and wide with low, multiple branching and a vase like habit. Bark is smooth and gray. In fall the leaves turn a rich gold and brown.
