Comments: A rarely seen deciduous shrub with red-brown stems. It grows with an upright, arching habit, 4-6' tall and wide, and develops an overall rounded outline. In early spring (March-April), 2-3" long, pale yellow, pendulous racemes open. Each raceme has 15-24 cup-shaped flowers formed the previous year. Some consider it the finest winter-flowering shrub. Use in shrub borders.
