Family: Cyrillaceae (cyrilla family)
Distribution: s.e. United States to South America

Comments: A semi-evergreen to deciduous shrub in colder winters. It has been in our collections since 1981. Foliage is dark green above, shiny green beneath on twisting branches. Its habit is rather open and irregular. In central Ohio it's proven to be shrubby growing only about 6' tall and wide. Grows best in moist or moist but well-drained, acid soil enriched with organic matter. The flowers are white, produced in June, fragrant and overall provide a nice effect. Good massed in the shrub border or naturalistic landscape and along stream or pond.
