Comments: The shelf-like branches of this beautiful evergreen conifer make it very distinctive. An introduction from the Mediterranean and northern India in the seventeenth century, it was frequently planted in churchyards and large gardens. Natural size is 40-60' tall and nearly as wide but expect half this size in Ohio. The upright barrel-shaped cones are up to 15cm long and take two years to ripen. Excellent ornamental tree for large areas.
